Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge. Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge is a rope suspension bridge near, Ballintoy, County Antrim, Northern Ireland. The bridge links the mainland to the tiny Carrick Island. It is thought salmon fishermen have been erecting bridges to the island for over 300 years. It has taken many forms over the years. In the 1970s it featured only a single handrail and large gaps between the slats.

This crosses a tributary stream of the Yangtze River. "Picture taken in the Three Gorges region before flooding by the Three Gorges Dam". The Yangtze River or Chang Jiang or Drichu in Tibetan is the longest river in Asia and the third longest in the world, after the Nile in Africa, and the Amazon in South America. The river is about 6,380 km long and flows from its source in Qinghai Province, eastwards into the East China Sea at Shanghai. It has traditionally been considered a dividing line between North and South China, although geographers consider the Qinling-Huai River line to be the official line of geographical division.

The 3000 feet to the suspension bridge over the Arun River. The bridge is fairly pleasant, but a bit wobbly in the middle. The Arun River is a river that flows through Nepal, Tibet and China, becoming a tributary of the Ganges.

Another bridge in Southwest China.

Inca rope bridges. Inca rope bridges were simple suspension bridges over canyons and gorges (pongos) to provide access for the Inca Empire. Bridges of this type were suitable for use since the Inca people did not use wheeled transport - traffic was limited to pedestrians and livestock.

Wire-rope bridge - Glen Nevis. Glen Nevis (from the Gaelic Gleann Nibheis) is a beautiful and popular glen in Lochaber, Highland, Scotland, with Fort William at its foot. It is bordered to the south by the Mamore range, and to the north by the highest mountains in the British Isles: Ben Nevis, Càrn Mor Dearg, Aonach Mòr, and Aonach Beag. It is home to one of the three highest waterfalls in Scotland, Steall Falls, where the Allt Coire a'Mhail joins the Water of Nevis in the glen.
