Jean-Pierre Rampal was one of history's greatest flute players, and among the most recorded classical artists of all time. His father was the first flutist of the Marseilles Symphony Orchestra and was professor of flute at the Conservatory there. Although his father taught him to play the flute, he did not recommend a musical career for Jean-Pierre, who instead entered medical studies. He was in the third year of medical study when, in 1943, German occupying forces drafted Rampal for service in the military. He learned that he was, in fact, to be sent to Germany as forced labor. So he went absent without leave and joined the underground, traveling to Paris and assuming a new identity. In Paris, he decided to attend the National Conservatory as a flute student. Five months later he graduated with first prize. Paris was liberated a few months later, and Rampal was appointed first flutist with the Paris Vichy Opera.

The famous flutist Jean-Pierre Rampal and Lily Liskine (harp) play traditional japanese melodies. One of the famoust flutists of the world perform Japanese melodies together with Lily Liskine. The musicpieces was written for the traditional japanese instruments shakuhachi and koto. Shakuhachi is a bambooflute and the koto is an instrument between harp, guitar and zither.


“This collection is a must, even if you previously thought you had no particular taste for traditional Japanese music. The melodies are placid and contemplative. Ideal for reflective moments, or to relax. I'm motivated to try more of Rampal's Japanese recordings.
While Rampal gets top billing, Laskine on the harp is just as prominent, and as excellent, in performing these works. The playing time of the CD (sadly, only a modest 44 minutes) is about equal measures solo flute, solo harp and harp/flute duet.” (amazon)

Sudah lama saya tak menikmati Kecapi Suling. Biasanya saya dengar di acara seminar atau resepsi pernikahan. Saya menikmati sekali instrumentalia bersahutan suara-suara kecapi dan suling, juga ditingkahi alunan biola atau rebab. Atau sang juru kawih yang melantunkan lagu-lagu merdu berpadu. Ah, lagu Malati di Gunung Guntur, Sagagang Kembang Ros, Seuneu Bandung, Lemah Cai…
Kecapi suling adalah bentuk kesenian tatar sunda. Selain instrumentalia, disajikan juga lagu-lagu yang rumpakanya disesuaikan dengan kebutuhan acara yang digelar. Lagunya bisa juga diambil dari lagu-lagu Tembang Sunda. Dewasa ini Kecapi Suling banyak disukai kaum muda. Nah, bagi yang suka, saya mau bagi-bagi sedikit Kacapi Suling koleksi saya.

Sepertinya, saya merasa perlu meng-upload apapun yang berhubungan dengan kebudayaan Indonesia, terutama seni musik. Kali ini saya mengupload Lagu Tradisional Indonesia dari daerah sunda, Kecapi Suling. April 2009 yang lewat, saya pernah mengupload Kecapi Suling juga.

Nah, kali ini keindahan instrumentalnya tak kalah indah. Ya, pertama kali saya dengar intrumental sunda Kecapi Suling Pangauban Arum Bandung ini, saya tiba-tiba merasa bangga jadi orang indonesia, jadi orang Sunda. Betapa tidak, kumpulan instrumental kecapi suling ini sangat indah. Hm, karya seni orang Indonesia memang sangat indah–barangkali itu yang membuat bangsa lain menyukai, bahkan iri dan mencurinya hihihi…. Download:
